This year, the overarching theme is on feeding the world by using technology to reduce hunger and waste. Within the next five years, the world's population will hit the 8 billion mark, with one billion of them not having adequate access to the food supplies necessary for a healthy life. At the same time, some 45% of the world's food supply is currently lost to waste. So, does technology hold the key to solving the planet's food crisis?

IBM Unveils Its Vision For The Future Of Artificial Intelligence
One of the most frustrating things about AI systems is their inability to understand context. For example, if a system is trained to identify dogs, it will be completely oblivious to a family playing Frisbee with its beloved pet. This flaw can get extremely frustrating when we're trying to converse with a system that takes each statement as a separate query and ignores everything that came before.
IBM unveils first Machine Learning Hub in India
Yesterday, IBM opened its first Machine Learning Hub in Bengaluru. The company hopes that the Hub will allow engineers, data professionals, business analysts and organizations to greatly benefit and learn through collaboration with like-minded organisations. IBM says that various enterprises will now have an opportunity to work closely with IBM data experts to understand the technology to analyze, visualize and interpret data. The Bengaluru ML hub is an addition to IBM's growing ML Hubs, similar to the ones in Toronto, San Jose, California, Beijing, Boblingen, and at IBM's Silicon Valley Lab. According to IBM, their experts will also assist visitors build and test rapid, scalable prototypes for fast deployment of their models.

IBM Unveils 'Cognitive Builder Course' on IBM Cloud
IBM and Galvanize have launched the first online Cognitive Builder Course hosted on IBM Cloud and powered by IBM Watson. The course is aimed at enterprise developers and interested university students who seek to build on their fundamental Python programming skills, while gaining knowledge about machine learning and artificial intelligence. Currently, the technology industry is facing a shortage of experienced developers to address the growing demand for cognitive and AI development. Recently'Upskilling India' a study conducted by IBM Institute for Business Value indicates 60 percent of global executives expect that employees will need new and different skills to be successful. The study also highlights that 61 percent of the respondents believe that India's higher education system is slow in responding to the changing social demands and needs, followed by 59 percent of the respondents expressing the challenge in maintaining a relevant curriculum for students.
